I had no idea camera tripods could be acquired for so little money. This is a dangerous piece of info. (see above quote from Cookie) So I bought one for under 20 bucks, shipping included, on eBay and if all goes well, photo shoots will no longer require another person. Is this too much like .... never mind. (see above quote from Cookie)
Anyhoo. I'm v. v. v. v. v. v. busy these days with this evening course. The long classes and the discussion-oriented content late at night are very energy-consuming, even though I am not doing any of the actual discussing.
So I am extra-thankful to Cookie for providing me more blog fodder. While I can't model it quite yet, I can still take photos of the pretty orange lace.
For me, the most important attribute an orange garment must possess, especially a dressy one, is that I must be able to wear it with a little black dress without anyone thinking "Halloween."
I'm pretty sure this one is a winner. It is a color that will stand out and be memorable in a sea of black or pastels, but without screaming "Jack-o-lantern" or "that aging '70s girl."
Now, speaking of that aging '70s girl, if I could just lose that 10 pounds so I could do that little black dress proper justice again....

P.S. Did you know you could get your own Cookie-knit shawl if you donate to Claudia's M.S. ride? There was a cone of yarn left over from my Ruby Red wrap (it is NOT PINK, but dark red) and it is that same gorgeous Zephyr wool-silk that will be in the new wrap. Go donate! There is one chance to win something from Claudia's wonderful prize basket for every $10 you donate. So donate early and donate often!
P.P.S. I bet the 10 pounds would go if I too would train for and bike that 100 miles. Shut up.
Back in the day when I was very serious about photography, I scored a seriously fancy-schmancy tripod at a yard sale for $5. I know how dangerous they are!
I wanna hear more about what you are learning!

Beautiful! Makes one wonder what you're wearing if the clothes are on the steps. :-)

once you get that tripod, a camera remote is just NOT to far away.... beautiful shawl.

I'm trying to figure out if using a tripod is going to make your photo-shoots *more* or *less* normal-looking to your neighbors. ("Psst, Margaret, come look. That crazy woman next door is at it again...")

It really is beautiful! Damn that girl can knit!! I'm not a big orange fan and I love that color! It reminds me of mango although it's a little too dark for mango. You're a lucky girl!

Just.Knocks.Me.Out! and no, not a jack'O at all, some tropical bird or, hee, an oriole, pretty little birds. You though, you'll just look sexier than ... fill in the blank. ;^) (I hear you about that 10 lbs. damnit)

Only 10 pounds-quit your bitchin. I have 20 to lose and I keep baking-UGH! And like Claudia said "knitting is not an exercise" If only it was.
Love the shawl and damn does she knit fast!

We need a good motivation to get us to lose that 10 lbs. I'm afraid if I don't get with the program this summer, it's going to be 15 lbs that I need to lose after the cruise in November.

Oh, how I wish it were just 10 pounds! But I need to get with it and lose what I need to. Love the shawl.

Bee-utiful! and I don't mean like a bumble bee.
I don't think I have ever seen garter stitch lace before; I love it! Is it exactly the same on both sides? And I love the color.

Exercise certainly helps, but in the week before the half marathon I gained weight. Of course, I was really stressed out, and thus eating poorly, but it was a decent chunk of weight just before the race.
(and when I did a lot of exercise right out of college, I used it as an excuse to eat more chocolate... no weight lost then either. whoops)

Wow! So pretty! Tripods are wonderful, but only if you use them. (never mind three of them languishing in my attic.)

That shawl is drop dead gorgeous, as I would expect coming from Ms. Cookie. Do you think she sleeps? I don't think so.
Tripod? I have so much to say...
:D

Cookie always does such gorgeous work.
Ah, the tripod. My favorite accessory.

Very pretty, but I am still lace impaired. I barely know how to use my camera remote, but I have a great tripod. I tried them together once.

Thanks for the shout-out!
I think SOMEONE needs to consider starting a lose-ten-pounds-a-long on her blog. Your following needs you.

Love the orange! It doesn't say Halloween to me at all. (This from a girl who is thinking of buying a Honda Fit because it comes in orange :) so take it with a grain of salt!)
