277. Phallus Against A Stormy Sky

Honestly, when I look at the water tower, it doesn't seem that phallic to me.  But I've taken about 13 break photos of the water tower at UVM over the last few weeks. I take them on my BlackBerry, and I email them home to myself.  When I get home to find them on my computer....well, I don't know.  Is it just me?

Anywayyyyy, in case sexy water towers are not your thing, how about I show you progress photos on something that might be:

I'm making Central Park, from Knitscene Magazine Fall 2006, in Peace Fleece Sheplova Mushroom, and it's moving along quite nicely.

----------------

This week has been all about the yoga (Twice this week. Go me.), the green drinks* for breakfast every day, and the hot stone massage I had last night.  Things could be worse, I'll tell ya.

* Here's a recipe...or a loose approximation of a recipe.  Each one was slightly different this week, but they've been uniformly good-tasting (To me.  Your mileage may vary if you are not open-minded about such things.) and, I think, extremely invigorating and healthful.  I'm sure they violate some sort of international breakfast rules, but I'm all into living on the edge like that.

8 ounces of yogurt (I variously used my ginger yogurt or plain goat's milk yogurt)

a little bit of maple syrup or honey

a large handful of raw greens from the garden (beet greens, broccoli, kale, Swiss chard, baby bok choi)

sometimes I added a half a banana, sometimes some pumpkin.  In the pumpkin ones, I added a generous sprinkling of cinnamon.

I put all this in a blender, pulse it for a while, then blend it 'til smooth.  Drink.  It makes me feel all devastatingly sexy and beautiful like Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair, and I imagine that Pierce Brosnan is going to give it to me (the drink!  the DRINK!) in bed.

It's the water tower.  It's getting to me.

Anything that Pierce Brosnan is giving, I'm taking.

And that Rene Russo; great choice for a role model!

I'm not sure that the skeletal, see-through part does it for me. Snicker, snicker.

Maybe it's the cinnamon.

It's gotta be the cinnamon, hee. I have to say, that's one big water tower but I tend to agree with Kristen about the skeletal, see through part.
Your sweater is looking GOOD!
My breakfasts tend to run unconventional so your green drink is right up my alley.
Pierce Brosnan, mmmmmmmm, and I've always thought Rene Russo a seriously beautiful woman.

The sky behind the water tower is seriously sulky.

RRRoww! Yum Yum That is my favorite sexy movie. The drink, not too sexy. But hey. COme on over to Essex and look at Rapunzuls tower.I will have to snap a photo for you

It's not just you. Though judging from the other comments so far, it might be just you and me...

You know, I wasn't really into Pierce Brosnan until Mama Mia, but oh my! (Or my my, how can I resist you, Pierce!)

Pumpkin. What a good idea! Now I might be able to make kale smoothies for my friend who abhors banana. :)

Not sure about the greens part, but GAWD I miss fruit and yogurt smoothies. (My pregnant self doesn't do yogurt.)

Sounds yummy. The drink and Pierce Brosnan and sprinking all over with cinnamon ( sprinkling the drink, too)
However, it's too cold now for smoothies! They are for summer. I need my beverages HOT in the morning.
Apple cider, pureed banana and spices heated together is an amazing drink, hot apple pie in a mug.

That water tower sky looks very after the apocalypse to me.

Yoga! Excellent.

Pretty sky behind that phallus! Your Central Park is looking great so far - I love the color. Of course.

You know? One would gather that perhaps you are in the mood for love with this entry. Too bad David does not read the blog. :D
LOVE your knitting. LOVE. Not haggy at all!
Drink on sweets!
xo
LOVE YOU MAN!

I have a friend who makes hers with parsley, water, three apples, frozen raspberries, and a scoop of hemp protein powder. I have yet to dare to do this.

Which is stupid because dude, I'd eat curry for breakfast if I could. What's a little parsley and hemp in the drink gonna hurt?

Oh, and yes, I noticed the tower. No, it's not just you.

(I didn't want to disappoint you, what with all the healthy shit in my previous comment...)

The tower from that angle did have an, ahem, effect on me, yes. Or maybe it was the Pierce in bed thought. No matter, I'm smiling this morning! I wish my Blackberry would take pictures. That looks bad after a thought of bed and that was so NOT what I want to photograph!

I don't see it, but that could just be me. I'm a little distracted by visions of Rene Russo. Think I could grow up to be like her? Or has that boat sailed what with me being 38 and all. /sigh

Love the knitting and your sky! xo

Ah, thanks... Now I won't be able to look at water towers any more without blushing...

Your knitting fingers are flying as fast as your steno fingers! You might get that sweater done just in time for the (really) cold weather.

Have you thought about making your own yogurt? you do so well making everything else ;) It's super easy, and you don't need fancy equipment - it can incubate in a clay pot (I have used a "bean" pot before - like those traditional pots folks cooked baked beans in).

That actually sounds like a great breakfast! I might try it one of these days, but with greens from the grocery store. :)

She may have a new sweater for Rhinebeck...at least for this winter? You are doing a good job of channeling Ranee. Go for it! ;-)

Every day I park right by that tower to go to work. Tomorrow I will see it in a different light...hehehe.

Hmmm, Norma you might consider reading the young adult novel Godless by Pete Hautman--the agnostic protagonist creates a religion centered around water and the water tower in his town. Your pic is eerily reminiescnet of the cover. Plus it's the tail end of banned books week--so read a book that pisses somebody off!

Yay green drinks! We make green smoothies every morning, and I swear I have more energy and feel full longer than with a more traditional breakfast. Hubby is on a raw foods diet, so no yogurt for us--unless it's unpasteurized, which I haven't been able to find--but along with the greens we are using fruit (bananas, apples, berries, or pears), honey and/or dates for sweetness, raw cocoa powder, sometimes raw nuts or nut butter, and fresh citrus juice or unpasteurized apple cider.

We try to rotate our greens for a diversity of nutrients, and we include herbs like mint and parsley for added flavor. If you get lambsquarters (a.k.a. pigweed or goosefoot) or nettles in your garden, harvest the leaves for your smoothies; they are insanely nutritious. The nettles don't really sting once they've been through the blender with all the fruit etc. :-)
