Yo MoFo's! Blog Fodder for the Taking!
We struck it rich! KitKatKnit is having a contest. We can enter. We can blog about it. Abracadabra! A blog post and a contest entry all in one.
The fine print: In order to enter, one must be old enough to have watched the original something-or-other. I dunno. Go read her post yourself. I know I never watched whatever it is she's talking about, but I definitely have to be old enough, since she portrays it in color. I'm friggin' old enough that the state of the art in TV was black-and-white with rabbit ears. So I'm pretty sure that, by default, I'm old enough to have seen whatever it is.
So.....going back to November 11, 2006, I will probably find that, as usual, I was knitting nothing.... But hold on. Don't go away. I shall go check.
Are you waiting? I'll be right back.
::coming up the stairs from the basement, brushing off the cobwebs as I go::
Oh, now, this is rather embarrassing.
Apparently I used to knit. Quite a lot. And not only did I knit, but I used to spin and dye my own yarn and THEN knit it. And I used to try out new techniques. And send things off to people who needed them more than I.
Here's what I did on the weekend of November 11 & 12 of last year, after having just finished two multi-directional diagonal scarves for the Red Scarf Project:
A quote from my post on 11/11/06:
Here is another hat done for the Soaring Eagles Project. I used this hat to practice color work, knitting using my left hand, and also to practice knitting Continental.
And a day or two later, I posted this:
....which is a Moriarty-style hat of my own impromptu design knitted of my own handspun, hand-dyed yarn, and donated to Burlington COTS.
Later that week, I knitted a few hats for Rabbitch's Vancouver homeless hat drive.
I used to be a good person.

And you are still a good, no great person! Don't beat yourself up because you're not knitting as much. Knitting is our hobby and sometimes you have to take a backseat to it and let life happen. When you feel like knitting as much you will. There's no problem if you're not knitting and donating everything you knit for others. You've done so much and you continue to do so. Don't beat yourself up!

You're a very good person! Just differently focused these days. ;)
I'm too young to have watched Bullwinkle cartoons in their original days. I did watch a lot in reruns though...

Frankly, you're more likeable now. There was way too much going on back then. I like this new Norma. All the posting, cursing and wandering around. Much better than all that do-gooding and constant motion. Used to make me tired all over.
Btw, spell check doesn't like the word 'likeable'. Bastards!

Eh, all that sweetness and sunshine was just making me feel guilty. :)

I used to be a good person too. It wasn't much fun.

Oh ferfucksake, Norma, you are one of the finest and most exceptional human 'beans' I 'know'... there is no 'used to' about it.
Now, you did mention that you would be knitting this weekend... what ya got?

We're doing KUTO this year and you could knit again...for others...mittens! Right up your alley.

Probably more than you ever want to know about the Rocky and Bullwinkle show: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocky_and_Bullwinkle_Show

Yeah. You were good. And I was nice.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
I've been looking through your knitting galleries through the years. You've got quite a variety of projects. How about a post about the progress you've made as a knitter?

Well, of course you're still a good person!! Shit happens. (It might even get on you sometimes.)
Checkin' out that contest... Thanks!

You're still a good person, don't be silly!!

You used to be good. Now, you are bodacious! And now I have the Rocky and Bulwinkle theme in my head. "No doubt about it. I gotta get a new hat!"

No, you aren't a good person, you are a great person, who just got busy!

Whether you are good or not is irrelevant. The question is, are you fun? I guess we all know the answer to that one. And remember the old saying, if you can't be good be careful ;-)

OMG, I remember those! I was knitting hats for Rabbitch too, it was first real knitting for someone else! I was hooked. (No crochet involved)

you suck

That's Mr. Peabody and Sherman! They were the original Pinky and the Brain.
However, I have NO IDEA what I was knitting on a year ago. Go figure!

What, campaigning all over and raising money for the Red Scarf project isn't being good? Sending off stuff to Interim House isn't good? Who says you have to be actively knitting to help people out? You're obviously the kind of person who helps all over the place in all sorts of ways. Don't be silly.
Besides, I've dropped out of hobbies (or manias, or whatever you choose to classify them as) for decades at a time. I've only gotten back into knitting in the last 3 years or so. Haven't seriously been spinning since the late 80's. Nu? I'm knitting again, planning on doing some spinning...it's coming back, but y'know, no one made us sign an oath in blood about it. And if you worry about it from the blogging content POV...I maturely say pththththtttttttt. [g] I kinda think we read 'cause we like who you are, y'know?

Oh man! This sounds like another challenge. But thanks for an excuse, er, I mean reason to blog.

Knitting is just like everything in life. It has ups and downs and you do more or less with it over time. It's just not as simple as seasons of the year. You're a good person even if you haven't done as much charity knitting as you had the year before.

Hey! My bff works for COTS. I should send some knitwear to her for donations. It never occurred to me!
