Feelings.....Whoa-oh-oh, Feelings

Presently feeling the love for Beth.

X196 No, not the girl.  The sweater.

Beth is just a simple little fingering-weight semi-fitted vintage-ish cardigan in "A Season's Tale" from Rowan. And you know my mantra:  Simpler is better.

And the yellow-multi Koigu is knitting up like this:X198 Not what I expected. But more. It's so hard to capture it in photographs so I can share with you all the colors of an autumn rainbow that are alive and healthy and deep and beautiful in this colorway and it's knitting up SO differently than I feel it looks on the skein.  (The colorway is, btw, P706L, if I'm reading the handwriting on the labels correctly. I'm having a helluva time reading it.)

I tipped the edges with two solids, a rust-red and a hunter green, a couple of rows each.

I cast on using the picot cast-on as described in Nancie Wiseman's "Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques."

See the picots?  I can't, either.  I'm not sure if I did something wrong - misinterpreting the instructions, perhaps - or because it is followed with a 2X2 rib I've lost the picot effect, or perhaps it takes blocking? Someone is free to educate me if they wish, since this is the first picot edge I've done. It took an INTERMINABLY long time to do the picots for this one little cuff.  Those are US 1 needles, and that is skinny yarn. But I still love the look.  It's a lovely finish regardless of whether it is truly a picot edge or not. Almost lettuce-y.  So I'm going to keep it. And interminably long to do? Who cares. This is the first project for which I have felt such a deep love - EVER. Take me away, Calgon Koigu.

Must Have will have to sit in the corner and feel like the stepchild for a while, I'm afraid, because I'm selfishly going to indulge in Beth for a while. I still love you, Must Have -- don't worry -- but I need to bond with the new baby. And now that I'm going in stockinette on those huge honkin' size 3s, after the ribbing, well....I'm just FLYin'.  Ahem. I may be absent for a few days while I'm doing just that. Or not. I keep the options open, in case the weather changes again.

You will be absent? Hahahaha. I think the 2/2 rib probably led to the interesting picot edge. It is looking FABULOUS!

That yarn is like an impressionist painting of a fall landscape. Just...breathtaking, really. I keep looking at the enlarged photo and lusting after it. The colors you chose for the edging just makes the colors richer. I don't blame you for abandoning (temporarily of course) all other WIPs for this beauty.

Picot edge is a bitch. Well, I think so. I did a baby hat last year and it took me several hours to do the edging and about an hour to polish off the hat. I have steered clear of picot after that. ('Course, it is always possible that it's just my own incompetence.)

Were you dipping into the punchbowl again? You've got to be careful, you know...;)
Picot? I have never done it myself. It's on my list of must do's, though
LOVE your koigu. I cannot wait to see the finished sweater.
And don't you dare be absent.
Hrmph.

Love Nancie Wiseman's book. Saves my sorry ass every time.

Might try picot some day. Like it a lot on Claudia's sox.

cool color! knits up less yellowy than it looks on the skein. that koigu is magic!!

That color is just lovely. Can't blame you for neglecting Must Have! Are you alternating skeins?

Its hard to beat the Koigu, and that's an amazing colorway. Knock yourself out, babe.

Wow! That koigu does look nice. I can see why you are so in love. :)

The initial passion you feel for a project is momentum -- postpone the project for prudent reasons and the energy dribbles away. Especially at a fine gauge, damn the torpedos/wips -- full speed ahead! (For a more adult point of view you can always skip over to Claudia.)

I love the solid rows you added on the edge. It really adds something. And I'm now even more in love with the Koigu than I was yesterday, if that's possible. Can't wait to see the finished Beth!

Oohoh, that's GORGEOUS, picot or no.

OH MY GOODNESS! I may have to drop everything and start knitting what I have. And I love the red and green tips - so, so smart you are! Can I copy you? GORGEOUS!

That Koigu is just you...you, baby!

Don't you do it, don't get me wanting to start another thing. At least those little bitty #1's should keep me away for awhile. FLYin'... sounds like fun.

Woo! It looks great, Norma, and it's easy to see that you're smitten. I see the colors of Indian Corn when I look at that Koigu -- close?

Norma, that colorway is going to look gorgeous on you!!

That's going to look drop-dead gawgeous on you. I'm with Rams, skip the adult viewpoint and run with it...

I've been eyeing Beth for a while, too. Very curious to see what she'll look like in a variegated yarn. Keep posting those pictures!

That edging was a great idea...it looks wonderful. But I don't see the picot edge either. (And I'm wearing my progressives, too!)

Yummy Koigu, a splendiferous colorway, I must say! And BTW, you got great tips........

Wow that is going to be gorgeous! I am ver interested in the flying comment....... Will it be fun? Can I come?

I love you too Norma :-)

(a whole sweater out of teeny tiny Koigu? I will be seriously impressed if you finish in time to wear it this fall.)

Absent for a few days? You? I dare ya....

How can you stand to knit a sweater? I've just started my first one and I'm about to throw myself on my No. 8 (US) needles to try and end the tedium.

I miss my scarves, mittens and hats.

What a great choice of yarn for Beth!!!!

Damn it! Now I HAVE to make a road trip to Patternworks so I can see the Koigu in person. Beth and P706L make a lovely couple.

OK, now you're making me look like the biggest of slackers...I finish a dishcloth and Norma finishes 19 sweaters, 22 dispositions (depositions? I'm bad at this) and cleans her whole house and GARDENS!! You make me tired, woman.

I love the koigu.... What a great Fall color. I think it will look nice on you. That is a great little sweater.

Your Beth will be stunning! It's such a satisfying knit isn't it? I knit her a few years ago in the yarns suggested by the pattern but I used a #0 and a #1 and upsized her to a *fluffy* 50" ....and I adored every single stitch. Enjoy the Beth/koigu love, it's what makes life so sweet, n'est ce pas? :)
